Zero Tolerance Policy

Shivicollege maintains a strict Zero Tolerance Policy towards ragging in any form. In accordance with the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court of India and the guidelines issued by the UGC and AICTE, ragging is a criminal offense.

Our Anti-Ragging Cell ensures that the campus, hostels, and transport facilities remain completely safe, welcoming, and fear-free for all freshers and junior students. Any student found guilty of participating in or abetting ragging will face severe disciplinary and legal action.

What Constitutes Ragging?

  • Any conduct by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing or handling a fresher with rudeness.
  • Rowdy or undisciplined activities causing annoyance, hardship, or psychological harm.
  • Asking a student to do any act which generates a sense of shame, torment, or embarrassment.
  • Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student.
  • Financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher.

Administrative Punishments

Depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt, punishments for those found guilty may include one or more of the following:

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarships or other benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test, examination, or placement drive.
  • Suspension or expulsion from the hostel.
  • Cancellation of admission and rustication from the institution.
  • Filing an FIR with local police leading to potential criminal prosecution.
